I feel soo burned out this week. My mind needs a change in mood. The thesis is still going along well, but the nogging needs some boost to kick it back to high gear.

This may come as a shock for some people, especially for those that know me, but…I am a nerd.
Shocker, right?
Then again, if one was to use the loose definition of the word, which could be used to describe anyone with overly dedication to a subject which may create socially-detrimental tendencies, all of us can be nerds about something. Me personally, I consider myself a sports nerd, a music nerd, and a video game nerd predominately. I am also a nerd for random (and sometimes, useless) information, for which, in some cases, I end up finding myself extremely intrigued about. For example, earlier this year, I found myself entrenched in wanting to intake as much information as I could about the O.J. Simpson Murder Case back in the mid-90’s, which I found slightly weird because, seeing how I am not a law student, I had no ultimate reason to be interested it in, other than I was just interested in it.
One of my favourite sites now-a-days is TV Tropes, which contains a vast array of “devices and conventions that a writer can reasonably rely on as being present in the audience members’ minds and expectations.” Of course, if people believe that “Art Imitates Life” (or vice versa), you can notice these tropes (which, to some definitions of the word, are stereotypical in nature) creep up, well, in real life. From those darned sketchy kids trying to push crack on your children, to wondering why that cat is snitchin’ all the time, and figuring out black males’ apparent “fixation” on Caucasian women, and possibly vice versa (‘Naw Meen?), sometimes, the roles on the screen or in a book doesn’t seem that impersonal after all.
In the “Acceptable Lifestyle Targets” section of TV Tropes, one of the tropes listed is the “Nice Guy”. We all have, through some encounter in our lives (predominately in regards to “The Dating Game”), developed an opinion about nice guys. Heck, some of us out there ARE those nice guys, me included. Needless to say, a decent amount of nice guys have dealt with some form of romantic frustration, and they deal with it in different ways than others. For me, I tend to make jokes (even some unfunny ones) about women and the dating game in general. However, while “scrounging through” the Nice Guy examples used in media, I ultimately came upon a Craigslist post done about 3 years ago, which eventually made “Best of Craigslist” status. This, in my humbled opinion, has to be the most epic Frustrated Nice Guy rant ever…
